Shovel-weilding Banshee

Yesterday,

I dug a moat,

in mounds of snow

ringing the yard,

so high,

so dense,

and so tempting

to little dogs,

who are always searching

for ways out.

The moat

is not really a moat,

for water

is not its

essential element.

But,

it is a ditch,

filled with H2O,

in a form that,

when mounded and packed tight,

offers

escape routes,

to rambunctious canines,

who ignore

the rantings

of a shovel-weilding banshee,

about to dig,

a moat in snow.
