Into the Thaw

The thaw

is here.

The breaths we take,

like long drinks

from a trough,

after a desert ride.

The air,

poignant,

filled with stories

of endurance

and awe.

This thoroughly really winter,

held us bound,

held us quiet,

and still.

Painful.

Spectacular.

Now,

unleashed into the thaw,

feeling it,

as if

for the first time.

Really,

thoroughly,

spring.
