Somewhere in a Pause

back in the spin,

the dervish brain

was mine.

Unsettled body,

racing thoughts,

the subsequent spillover,

Then came

the rather-than:

instead of fighting

the centrifugal pull,

I rode it out,

stopping during

the inevitable lulls,

finding wisdom there.

New tricks,

for older dogs.

I caught that one,

somewhere in a pause.

And now it’s mine,

to have,

to hold,

and pass along,

to wayfarers,

pausing.DSC_0275Photo: Leigh Pumilia
