Too Late

A photograph.

placed within scrolling reach

of my evening

screen check,

sent me to the brink.

brought on by

the actions of people,

whose hearts are cut off,

from the source.

I could not see

anything but pain,

at the hands of us,

and I wished for ignorance.

too late.

I took one breath in:

all of her pain,

an exhale out:

with golden intentions,

to her.

In the face of such anguish,

overwhelmed by the baffling

nature of it:

what was left

for me to do?

It was so late.

I wished ,

with shame,

for ignorance.
