Spring’s Threshold

It arrived,

a full bouquet,

given during mush season,

this year,

an extended run of time.

Spring can be sensed,

but barely seen,

heard,

or smelled.

As the signs of spring,

have slowly multiplied,

the bouquet has been shrinking,

each day or two,

wilted blossoms,

tossed.

And now,

it’s down to this:

a blossom

we can really see,

a flower that has

endured for weeks,

urging us on,

from

its vase,

to spring’s threshold.
