“Hold the Railing”

“Hold the railing”,

she offered

from the bedroom,

and as I descended

the stairs,

the ones I had fallen down

yesterday morning,

I held the railing.

In those moments,

my descent

a mindful,

sockless passage down,

“Hold the railing”,

became,

“I love you”,

inside my heart.

With a soft smile,

and standing safely in the kitchen,

I started making

our coffee.
