I Surrender

Morning stretch,

on the rug,

lying down,

face up,

taking my time

to ease all parts

towards a day of usefulness,

without pain.

Then,

it lands on me.

Damp,

moldy,

the winter spent

under snow

and ice.

No ignoring it.

An eager dog,

will not rest,

until I surrender,

and throw.

Then,

she brings it,

back.
