Reason to Sing

Today,

opened first moments

by

cries across the lake,

long heart bending notes,

sustained by,

new sun light,

just up

and over northern trees.

Songs went on,

more joining in,

swelling into

a chorus of,

long long ago,

a world embedded,

deep within their solid

bones,

the bones that let them sink

and dive,

entire lives spent,

in and on

water.

Loons.

We rise together,

they call,

I listen,

content in knowing,

that I will never,

fully

understand,

and so glad to know,

they still have reason,

to sing. IMG_6738
