And Then Yesterday

And then yesterday,

out every window,

luminous green,

drenched in late light,

shadows coming,

summer in rhythmic retreat,

bowing out slowly.

Holding still,

no expectations,

and then,

a wave of complete trust,

crickets,

that wren,

three dogs,

and your love,

in the light,

of late summer.
