Leaning In

And there,

that horse,

head leaning,

against the slats,

where the others are leaning,

three horses leaning in,

towards one another,

in the late afternoon,

wanting to be next to each other,

but

separated,

in the late afternoon.

Horses,

in herds,

in herds,

not left to lean,

not left to long for

the touch of the herd,

in the herd,

among,

with,

together,

breathing with nostrils lifting,

their bodies in trembling sighs,

touching,

in the late afternoon.

I continue driving.

What will I do,

with the thought of horses,

leaning towards each other,

in the late afternoon?
