Reunion

Last night

I dreamed of dry and brittle,

leaves like parchment cut-outs,

dropping in confetti showers,

the earth shut hot and tight,

unable to let

the leaves settle,

and soften.

Through the night,

it rained,

and with assisting winds,

leaves brought home,

into succulent mounds

of earth.

And I,

in slow waking,

can not wait,

to get out

and get wet,

this day,

a sweet reunion.
