At This Rainbow’s End

Stop now,

at this rainbow’s end,

another morning,

of cranky joints,

anticipated long hauls into

the fray of the day,

of missed chances

to be the best thing,

and also,

of smiles on the faces,

of children that curl

the breath as I exhale,

into a smile all my own,

of a total and lasting moment

of right,

when the best of me,

was felt and savored,

and I could see the air

around me,

lighten and rise,

turning into gold.
